Today I wanted to continue talking about wardrobe staples and an item that I just couldn’t ignore is your basic BLAZER. But I’m not saying “basic” with a negative connotation here. A Blazer is basic because it’s a wardrobe staple we all probably own and we all need. In fact I believe if you don’t love blazers, you just haven’t found the right blazer for you yet.
Obviously if you work in an office setting, you’re familiar with a blazer. But just throwing it over the simplest t-shirt like I did here takes your look up a notch. A blazer over a summer dress doubles the versatility of that dress. A blazer with jeans is effortless and a blazer with shorts and heels is a surprising combination that looks totally chic.
Finding a great fitting blazer is the key to it becoming your wardrobe staple. If you’re just getting started, I would recommend you go for a longer black blazer with an interesting detail. It can be the inside lining that’s a fun print that shows when you roll up the sleeves or maybe slightly exaggerated shoulders, or really pretty buttons. It should have something that excites you to wear this blazer to more than just a job interview.
If you already own your staple black blazer then it’s time to have some fun. I love a white blazer during spring and summer! Also a great staple is a larger pinstripe version, it’s another basic must that can be mixed with so many outfits. If you love color, get a bright colorful blazer to pair with more subdued pieces! A bright pink or red would be so pretty, go for whatever color flatters your complexion.
So no matter what color or style you chose to go for, just make sure it fits you well. And have fun shopping!
